What's Next for Molly?

What’s next for Fox News Channel (and WBRE-TV alumna) Molly Henneberg? I caught her live Tuesday night at Huckabee headquarters (Henneberg on Huckabee?) breaking the news (if only by seconds) that the candidate was about to take the podium to not only concede defeat in the day’s primaries but also to drop out of the race.

I don’t watch much Fox News Channel, but I take it she’s been on the trail with the Republican candidate. But there ain’t no Mike Huckabee to follow around no more! What’s next for Molly? Probably something big. She’s been front-and-center for Fox on several major stories. She was the first national reporter on the scene at the Virginia Tech student massacre just last April. A tragic story, but Molly did solid work.

I can’t say I know her well. Our time together at WBRE (our “overlap”) was short. She was the medical reporter, so I didn’t see her break any big stories, chase down any big leads. She seemed competent enough and smart enough; but not exactly a hard-charger. She was good enough that her scripts pretty much got a rubber stamp from me in my role as EP. I don't think I influenced her career at all. I make none of those "I taught her everything she knows" claims.

She also wasn‘t glamorous. Past tense—wasn’t. Fox News gave her a makeover. As WBRE anchor Andy Mehalshick might say, “Big-Time.”

Fox likes good-looking women.

Mary Katherine Ham, writing at Townhall.com this week, shared this picture of a Fox Business Channel billboard in New York City: “The Future of Business News Has Arrived.”

The tag line? “See What You Are Missing.”

Uh…yeah…hmmmmm…uh-huh…yup…OK…sure…I see. What I’m missing is a bald-headed white guy with horn-rimmed glasses, or a person of color. What I’m missing is anyone without cleavage.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not a mysogo—I mean a mysognis—I mean a misojon—I mean a guy who hates women.

I like to oogle—I mean ohgle—I mean look at pretty women as much as the next guy.

It’s just not my #1 determinant as I pick credible sources for news.

And don’t even get me started on “Fair and Balanced!”

My experience with Molly at WBRE was that she was a lovely and very sweet woman. Thoughtful, kind, a pleasure. That she would have the success she had, though, never seemed to cross my mind. She just didn't seem the "type" to be hungry enough to make her way to such a key position.

In fact, when she left WBRE, I'm near certain she had no job prospects whatsoever, that the Fox job came along after she left this area. For those who don't know, she was one of the many driven out by Zobel. He wanted her to re-sign without a nickel's raise. She walked.

Not that she is undeserving, mind you, many of us were simply surprised by the major leap she made.

And you're very right, she wasn't at all glamorous. Pretty, but kind of a "plain Jane," which I don't mean in a nasty way. Come to think of it, Jane was part of her given name; Mary Jane.

Another WBRE escapee that none of us figured was headed for stardom was Bianca Solorzano. Most of us had the same thought when she was here, "...she really ought to consider another line of work."

Being a healthy and lustful male, I still have no problem in saying that T&A news, weather, or sports turns me off enormously...

What a sad commentary that 4 years after he's gone, people still need to blame Zobel for their pathetic lives.

Never doubt anyone's capabilities and possibilities.
Instead of bringing people down and doubting their future, wouldn't it be wonderful to think and believe in the potential of someone?
Wow, now there's an idea!

Power to the people and Kumbaya!

Anyone care to comment on the rebirth of the less than hot Julie Bidwell-Banderas?
Now there is a major make over! Wow!She's on fire!
Fox is the T&A news channel for men.

2:14, I didn't see anything here critical of Molly or her talents.

Hey 2:14, you're Al Zobel. How long you been sniffing around here? Do us a favor, move along.

Speaking of pathetic, 2:04 is likely Ron Giordan, Zobel's lap dog.

Bidwell-Banderas was hot when she was here. There was little in the way of a make-over needed. Zobel fired her. Just one of his many brilliant moves.

By God, it is Al!

Mr. Blogger, be flattered. A man who wasn't fit to be your intern is reading you.

Bravo!

My experiences with Molly at WBRE were occasional, but she was always a pleasant and professional person. I remember one time where she offered me an orange slice. Not sure why I remember it, but I do!

Good for her to land at Fox News. She's definitely one of the good people of this business.

Hey Paul... I've noticed that people back there can't seem to get enough of me! A lapdog, huh?
Yah...bettering my life and moving somewhere to raise children closer to family makes me a lapdog! Woof, Woof!
